Purpose of Role / Overview
The role of the Solution Architect is to work with stakeholders to understand business demand and translate into actionable software by contributing to the requirements, design and development of the solution. The Solution Architect will be a key member of the team in addition to their strategic roadmap responsibilities, forming end-to-end solutions and ensuring that delivery initiatives meet architectural and governance principles.


Accountabilities

Technical Leadership

  • The Solution Architect is accountable for complex software architecture, primarily formed using AWS services, interacting with distributed integrations and legacy technologies, making key design decisions to meet business requirements, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Provide technical leadership to development teams and the wider Clarity business.
  • Recommend architecture patterns and engineering best practice, focusing on leveraging AWS technologies to enable development teams to add value to the ClarityGO platform.
  • Provide strategic input and where applicable take ownership of the AWS platform components.
  • Diligently consider and integrate security and compliance in everything they do. Understand the standards required by Portman Travel Group and our clients.

Communication

  • The Solution Architect will work closely with the ClarityGO Product team so should be able to engage with and clearly articulate system behaviour to non-technical stakeholders, providing an interface to the software development teams, elaborating on detailed requirements and NFR’s.
  • Support internal departments with adoption of new functionality, providing technical documentation when required.
  • Assist in communication with clients where necessary

Delivery

This role will -

  • Thoroughly understand the needs of Clarity and Group business requirements, design solution proposals, engage with business stakeholders and drive implementation through to completion.
  • Work with Product Management, Clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Increase customer satisfaction and usability of the products.
  • Keep ahead of industry trends, implement strategies to ensure that the Clarity is ahead in the marketplace.
  • Build relationships with suppliers to ensure we align on all developments, enhancements and maximise cost / benefit.
  • Work with the ClarityGO Product team, Sales and Account Management to support bids and new business opportunities, promoting the product to our clients and providing technical guidance.


Job requirements

Prerequisite knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Experience of application development using AWS cloud-native services and data architectures.
  • Experience of design, development and delivery of enterprise software.
  • Strong understanding of AWS database technologies, including Aurora DB, proficiency in AWS Lambda functions and web service API’s.
  • Able to translate business demand into clear technical requirements in line with Clarity strategy.
  • Product development & requirement management for a SaaS application.
  • Provide AWS technical leadership to developers, guiding them in design best practices, reusability, database, and application performance optimisation.
  • Experience of data security, Cyber Essentials, ISO 27701 and PCIDSS standards.
  • Knowledge of OWASP and NCSC security guidance.
  • Knowledge of UK GDPR.
  • Experience providing strategic input and taking ownership of critical architecture solutions.
  • Experience architecting data rich SaaS solutions.
Desirable
  • Experience with user profile management systems.
  • Identity management, authentication & SSO.
  • Automated test and validation toolsets.
  • Experience of Accessibility toolsets and WCAG.
  • Working with distributed development teams.
  • 3rd party Supplier management.
  • Diligent, with excellent attention to detail and time-management skills.
  • Ability to self-manage and make excellent progress through thorough prioritised organisation and planning with the ability to multi-task.
  • Willingness to travel, if required.
