Portman Travel Group are a technology-led travel sector specialist, with a portfolio of global travel companies. We specialise in acquiring and building global travel brands, currently operating as a Group of three divisions: Luxury, Business and Sports Travel - with a number of businesses operating in each division.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to join the Group function of a fast-growing, well-backed travel organisation. The Group has doubled in size since 2021 and has ambitions to maintain ambitious growth going forward. As a result of these growth ambitions, we are looking to develop our finance team through the recruitment of a high caliber Group Accountant.

Role overview

  • Assist with preparation of Group single entity and consolidated statutory accounts under FRS 101.

  • Documenting and standardisation of accounting policies across the Group, liaising across the three divisional finance departments and ensuring consistency. Implementing new processes and policies in line with accounting standards and ensuring this is followed for areas requiring change.

  • Assist with quarterly reviews and yearly audits and liaison with auditors.

  • Liaison with tax advisors to ensure the Group tax position is well understood and compliant, providing clear explanations for changes in current and forecast tax position.

  • Liaise with experts on transfer pricing, and assist in the preparation of local and master transfer pricing files.

  • Provide technical accounting advice following changes in accounting standards or changes in business circumstance.

  • Produce high-level management information for inclusion in executive and board meetings.

  • Prepare company secretarial documentation to ensure compliance across the Group.

  • Ad-hoc projects as required, the Group has recently expanded significantly, and the candidate will be required to conduct a wide range of tasks.

Candidate

  •  ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with proven transferable experience.

  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS and ideally experience or understanding of audit.

  • Group tax knowledge would be highly advantageous.

  • Strong Excel skills and ability to analyse large volumes of data.

  • Ideally have experience of using various ERP and statutory accounts preparation software.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships across divisions and up to Board level.

  • Ability to drive process improvements within a high-growth business.

  • Project management experience (desirable).
